Projektterület tudományos leírása
The area is located 240-390 m a.s.l. on andesite bedrock. The area is covered with 100 years old forests of 91H0*Pannonian woods with Quercus pubescens (36%), and 91M0 Pannonian-Balkanic turkey oak –sessile oak forests (63%). There are some small patches of 40A0*Subcontinental peri- Pannonic scrub, some transition forests and 6240*Sub-Pannonic steppic grasslands. The landscape around it comprise maintained and abandoned grasslands, abandoned wine yards and forests. There wasn’t any forestry operation during the last decades, therefore the plants are enriched in the area with large number of protected species such as Aconitum anthora, Allium paniculatum, Ecium russicum, Inula oculus-christi and Spiraea media. There are some invasive Robinia a pseudoacacia in the project area.
Animals of the area:
- Mammals: Dryomis nitedula, Felis sylvestris Glis glis and Nyctalus noctula.
- Birds: Caprimulgus europaeus, Dryocopus martius, Dendrocopos medius, Ficedula albicollis, Upupa epos, Pernis apivorus Strix aluco.
- Reptiles: Ablepharus kitaibelii fitzingeri
- Beetles: Aesalus scarabaeoides, Cerambyx cerdo, Lacon querceus, Limoniscus violaceus, Liocola lugubris, Lucanus cervus and Trichoferus pallidus.
- Butterflies: Dioszeghyana schmidtii, Marumba quercus, Pammene querceti, and Parnassius mnemosyne

The age, stand structure, composition, mixture rate and dead wood of Pannonian woods with Quercus pubescens and Pannonian-Balkanic turkey oak –sessile oak forests of the area, the presence of Subcontinental peri-Pannonic scrub and Sub-Pannonic steppic grasslands makes the area important in a biodiversity and EU point of view. The naturalness and biological diversity of the area can be relatively quickly improved by a proper nature conservation management.
